Alymsys (bevacizumab-maly) is an anti-angiogenic therapy used to block the blood supply that feeds cancer tumors and prevents it from growing. How does Alymsys® work?
The therapy is designed to block a protein called vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which is responsible for the growth of new blood vessels. Blocking VEGF may prevent the growth of new blood vessels, thus starving tumors that would otherwise feed off of the blood vessels.

However, in a study of mCRC patients who continued on Avastin for second-line treatment after a first-line treatment that included Avastin, tumors did not shrink.
How is Alymsys® administered?
Alymsys is delivered as an intravenous (IV) infusion via a needle in your vein. It is typically administered at an outpatient treatment center or at a doctor’s office or outpatient center since it requires the oversight of a healthcare provider. You cannot receive Alymsys if you have had surgery within the last 28 days. Your wounds will need to be fully healed.
How often will I be treated with Alymsys®?
You will receive Alymsys every 2 to 3 weeks depending on your specific cancer type and may or may not be delivered along with another prescribed treatment. Speak with your healthcare provider to understand your exact treatment regimen and schedule.
How long does each treatment take?
If your Alymsys infusions are well tolerated, you may expect the following durations:
• 1st Infusion: 90 minutes • 2nd infusion: 60 minutes • 3rd and Future Infusions: 30 minutes
All infusions are of the same dosage.
